Fanny received a very good education as a child, and she often was taught from home by her mother. She sometimes struggled with her lessons and seemed to be a bit clumsy. Fanny had some issues with her self image, but she had no need to be because she was beautiful!
“I studied nearly two hours on Arithmetic and Geography... At ten minutes of three I... commenced to dress for Dancing school. At a quarter to four Kate and I went there, she left me in the dressing room and went home with the carriage. Mrs. Gaszinski...was very kind to me and took me to the Dancing hall...there were a number of ladies seated, friends or relations of the children...The first think I danced was my old favorite “Les Lanciers” after which I danced the polka, waltz, and cotillion...The boys behaved rudely. As I was leaving the hall one little fellow pushed me roughly exclaiming, “Go back” or some such epithet--I took no notice of it, but should he repeat it I am inclined to mention him to the teacher...I forgot to mention that we ended with a march...I was the largest girl present poor bashful me!” Jan 5, 1859
